BUILDINGS: WHERE PEOPLE LIVE AND WORK.



SHOPS: TO BUY THINGS SUCH AS FOOD, CLOTHES, ETC



PUBLIC BUILDINGS: HOSPITALS, LIBRARIES, SCHOOLS...

 

STREETS: ROADS WITH BUILDINGS, TRAFFIC LIGHTS, 
ROADS SIGNS AND BENCHES.



THERE ARE CARS IN THE ROADS.

AND PEOPLE ON PAVEMENTES.

PEDESTRIAN STREET: ONLY FOR PEDESTRIANS (PEOPLE WALKING).

SQUARES: OPEN SPACES WHERE SEVERAL STREETS MEET.

PARKS AND GARDENS.

PEOPLE USUALLY WORK IN OFFICES, SHOPS, FACTORIES...






CITIES HAVE THREE PARTS:
1. HISTORIC CENTRE - OLDEST PART OF THE CITY. THERE ARE OLD BUILDINGS AND THE STREETS ARE NARROW.

2. MODERN NEIGHBOURHOODS - AROUND THE HISTORIC CENTRE. BUILDINGS ARE TALLER AND MORE MODERN.

3. INDUSTRIAL PARKS - MODERN DISTRICTS OUTSIDE THE CITY. WE FIND FACTORIES, OFFICES, SHOPPING MALLS...


CHARACTERISTICS OF VILLAGES:
VILLAGES ARE SMALLER THAN CITIES.

THERE ARE NOT MANY INHABITANTS, SO THEY KNOW EACH OTHER.

BUILDINGS ARE OFTEN SMALL.

INHABITANTS USUALLY WORK IN SMALL BUSINESSES AND AGRICULTURE.



SOME PEOPLE LIVE IN A VILLAGE AND TRAVEL TO WORK IN CITIES EVERYDAY.
POPULATION
The population of an area is its number of inhabitants.

1. THE POPULATION CAN INCREASE FOR:
- BIRTHS













- IMMIGRANTS


2. THE POPULATION CAN DECREASE FOR:
- DEATHS
















- EMIGRANTS













TYPES OF POPULATION (according to residence):
- URBAN POPULATION-. PEOPLE WHO LIVES IN THE CITIES.












- RURAL POPULATION: PEOPLE WHO LIVES IN THE VILLAGES OR IN THE COUNTRYSIDE.







TYPES OF POPULATION (according to work):
ACTIVE POPULATION: people who work (+16 years old).


















Unemployed people are part of the active population.












INACTIVE POPULATION: people who cannot work because of their health or age (-16 years old and retired people).
